I install, activate and troubleshoot GPON fiber-to-the-home connections that bring internet and streaming TV into homes and businesses. I pair that field work with an engineering foundation in quality, maintenance and process improvement. I am a telecommunications field technician based in Playa del Carmen, installing, activating and repairing GPON fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service across the Riviera Maya. My days are spent connecting preconnectorized fiber drops, terminating mechanical connectors, setting up ONTs, routers and Wi-Fi Mesh systems, and diagnosing faults such as interference, latency, outages and slow upload or download speeds, usually on 10-hour shifts measured by daily productivity targets.
Before telecom, I spent more than a decade in maintenance: electrical, plumbing, water pumps, refrigeration and air conditioning, and structural welding. I also completed seven semesters of Industrial Engineering with a specialty in Quality, which taught me to think in terms of standards, measurement and process.
My goal is to grow from installing networks to designing them. I am working toward BICSI credentials on the path to ICT infrastructure design.
Soy técnico de campo en telecomunicaciones en Playa del Carmen. Instalo, activo y reparo servicios de fibra GPON hasta el hogar (FTTH) en la Riviera Maya. Mi día a día incluye conectar acometidas de fibra preconectorizadas, colocar conectores mecánicos, configurar ONT, routers y sistemas Wi-Fi Mesh, y diagnosticar fallas como interferencias, latencia, caídas y velocidades bajas de subida o bajada, normalmente en jornadas de 10 horas con metas diarias de productividad.
Antes de las telecomunicaciones trabajé más de diez años en mantenimiento: eléctrico, plomería, bombas de agua, refrigeración y aire acondicionado, y soldadura estructural. También cursé siete semestres de Ingeniería Industrial con especialidad en Calidad, lo que me enseñó a pensar en normas, medición y procesos.
Mi meta es pasar de instalar redes a diseñarlas. Estoy trabajando hacia certificaciones BICSI en el camino al diseño de infraestructura TIC.
